Our recording process is all about capturing what makes each drum unique and impactful. Over the last few years, we’ve experimented extensively with different microphones and placements, constantly refining our approach to produce the highest-quality samples possible.
We aim to capture the full dynamic range of every drum, using multiple mic options to make the end product as versatile as possible. With so many combinations of mic choices and velocity layers, you can create truly bespoke drum sounds to reinforce your mix.
While there’s always some variation between sessions, we typically use the following setups:
Snares: SE VX7, Shure Beta 57, and Austrian Audio OC7 on the top head.
Kicks: Alien 8 at the beater side, Shure Beta 91A PZM, ATM25 inside, FET47 outside, and a Yamaha Subkick.
Toms: Josephson E22 and ATM25 on top.
Overheads: Either JZ67 or SE RN17 in a spaced pair.
Room mics: More variation here, but our go-tos include an AEA R88 as the “mid-room” pair, Coles or JZ67 for wide mics, and a blend of Cloud 44A and Neumann U87s for the far mics.
Most of this bundle is tracked through an SSL AWS console, often paired with outboard gear from API, Empirical Labs, and SPL Transient Designers. We keep tracking-stage processing minimal, focusing instead on mic choice, placement, and making the most of the room.
In post, we’ll tame any overly resonant elements and apply light shaping to hit that “Goldilocks” zone – not raw, but with enough headroom for you to process further in your own mix.
Depending on the drum, tuning, and session vibe, the detail can range from 7×7 up to 11×11 (Meaning a 10 channel Multi-TCI will have 1100 samples!). You’ll get everything from feather-light ghost notes to explosive rimshots. Some snares really open up when you lean into them, so they may have an extra rimshot layer. Others sound best when they’re not pummelled – in those cases, the rimshots are a touch more controlled, or there are fewer round robins to keep them musical.
Each TCI is dialled in to keep tuning tight and consistent, but these are living, breathing drums played by actual humans, so there’s a touch of natural variation in both stroke and pitch. Alongside the multi-TCI, you’ll also get the raw audio and one-shots, ready for you to dig in, pull apart, and shape into something that’s entirely yours.

The original Mastercraft Bell Brass snares from the 80s now command eye-watering prices. Drummers and producers celebrate their cast shells and thunderous volume, but much ofthe magic lies in their rarity and their presence on countless iconic records. A mythology has grown around these drums, spawning an entire industry of replicas and innovations. One thing remains consistent: they are absolute weapons for music production.
Cast from brass or bronze with 3mm+ shells, some of these snares weigh close to 20kg. Add cast bronze hoops and you’ll need a back brace for your sessions. We’re saving both your back and your bank balance with this bundle!
We assembled a crack squad of today’s finest bell brass snares, spent time getting to know each one, and curated tuning choices that bring out their best qualities. The result? What webelieve is the ultimate bell brass snare collection available.

All Live Room Audio's TCIs are 'Multi layered', meaning each TCI has several layers embedded (Close Mics, Overheads + Room Mic options). These can be accessed by clicking the name tab above the TCI loading window.

The one-shots in the bundle are expertly processed and ready to drop straight into your session. Designed for instant impact, they deliver punch, clarity, and a wide dynamic range — no extra tweaking needed. Just drag, drop, and go.
